Itinerary

Day 1

Taking off from Cairns Airport we head north, passing over the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforests, tracking up to Cape York Peninsula. Arriving at Bamiga at 11:30am we take 4WD transport to Australia’s most far northern point, where you can get some fantastic photos. A picnic lunch is provided. Enjoy this on the tip of Australia. Then, it’s back on to the plane for a quick 40 minute trip over the sea to the Torres Strait Islands.

Tonight we stay at York (Masig) Island which is a coral cay approximately 2.7km long and 800m wide. This idyllic tropical island is rich with natural and cultural history and offers some stunning beaches. Twin share accommodation is included, staying at Lowatta Lodge. Meals are included in day one. There is a small store / cafe on Masig where you can experience outback shopping and rustic island charm.

Day 2

Plenty of time to explore York Island this morning, before our scheduled departure at 12:30pm. Option to extend your Torres Strait Island experience with another night here or at Thursday Island: this would need to be arranged at the time of booking. Various tours and fishing excursions available (extra cost), or just relax and unwind.

Remember, Masig Island is not on the tourist trail, it’s a remote island and services and supplies can be restricted. If staying on Masig, you can feast on the fish you have caught or re-supply from the store.

The return journey starts with a quick fly / hop over to Horne Island, where we refuel for the next leg of the journey. Lunch can be purchased during this time, at your own expense. From there, it’s a scenic 3 hour flight back to Cairns, where we will arrive at the General Aviation Terminal around 6pm.

What Will I See?

The best of Australia’s top end. From the air you will enjoy unsurpassed views over the Great Barrier Reef, Wet Tropics Rainforest, Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Strait Islands. Photographers will appreciate our Cessna 337’s design, which has a unique ‘Centre Line Thrust’ and high wings, providing uninterrupted views of the terrain below.

On land you get to explore and stand on Australia’s most far northern tip (yes there’s a sign post for that all important photo) and explore one (or two) of the Torres Strait Islands. It’s tropical, it’s inviting and it’s a trip you won’t ever forget.

This overnight adventure makes the remote far north accessible, giving you the chance to immerse yourself in nature and culture.
